I’m Eric Bowers, age 27, born and raised in Kansas City Missouri. As you have probably already noticed, I take a lot of architecture and cityscape photos. People often ask why I take so many pictures of buildings – for several years know I’ve had an interest in the built environment, and the structure of urban form. I even attended the graduate level Urban Planning program at KU for a year, but ultimately left.
I’ve been planted behind a camera on and off throughout my life, sometimes photographing voraciously, other times sparingly. But after growing up and visiting other nations and their cities, I starkly realized that the ubiquitous suburban strip mall is not an ingredient in building a place worth caring about. By that time, digital photography was becoming popular, and I started shooting urban architecture and cityscapes frequently since about 2004. I occasionally do portraiture for events, families, and models – something I hope to do more of in the future, so as to add a little moderation to the cityscape photos.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Missouri in Business Administration majoring in Finance, and I presently work on the Country Club Plaza in the financial sector. It’s my day job that I don’t plan on quitting anytime soon, while the photography is purely for fun, and an attempt to mold my style and evolve into more skillful photography over time.
